I believe that one of the features that has been highly influential towards the success of Call of Duty 4 (Coʬ) is the Perk System. Well good news, I can confirm that perks will also be returning for Treyarch’s instalment of the franchise, Call of Duty: World at War. It’s roughly a 50% split between new perk replacements and perks retained from Coʬ.

Some of the same perks have a different name to reflect the new games World War II theme, including “M9ʋ Bazooka Ҳ”, which is the equivalent of “RPG-7 x 2” in CoD4. Many of the new perks coincide with completely new game settings, such as the “M2 Flamethrower” and its protective counter-part, “Fireproof”.

There are still three standard perk ‘Sets’, which you can presumably still only pick one perk from each. However, there is also a special fourth perk list; ‘Vehicle Perks’.
Although you can guess what most of the perks do, there hasn’t been an official announcement for any of the perks exact purpose.

• Bouncing Betty x2 (similar to claymores)

• Flak Jacket (decreases damage taken by explosives)

• Deep Impact
• Extreme Conditioning

• Toss Back (resets fuse on tossing back enemy grenade)
• Second Chance (ability to revive allies)

• Dead Silence

• Reconnaissance (shows artillery and tanks on map)

• Greased Bearings
• Ordnance Training
