Aside from its feminine aesthetic features, it comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera, full QWERTY, threaded text messaging, built-in mp3 player and expandable memory up to 8GB. It’s available in pink, champagne, and blue on Bell while champagne is the only variant available through Solo Mobile. This little smartphone for the ladies can be had for as little as $49.95 on a 3-yr contract. Samsung launches CLEO – the ultimate fashionista accessory

Samsung debuts its “ready-to-text” collection exclusively at Bell stores
across Canada

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 7 /CNW/ – Samsung Electronics Canada and Bell are dialing up high style with the launch of the ultimate must-have for any text-messaging maven – the Samsung CLEO(TM).

A compact and discreet smartphone, the Samsung CLEO’s unique style can easily be mistaken for a make-up compact. Adding a touch of haute couture to text messaging, the CLEO features a full QWERTY keypad, ability to view text messaging threads, and colour LCD screen. The fashion-forward device, available in pink, champagne and blue, is loaded with a 1.3 megapixel camera, built-in MP3 player and supports 8 GB of expandable memory.

Bell Mobility will offer all CLEO colour models across Canada while Solo Mobile will offer the champagne CLEO.

“The Samsung CLEO will certainly keep its users’ fingertips on the pulse of technology and style,” said Paul Brannen, General Manager, Wireless Terminal Division, Samsung Electronics Canada. “Samsung wanted to offer its fashion-forward customers a truly stylish and unique mobile experience and we have made that happen with the launch of the Samsung CLEO.”

“The CLEO is a great smartphone capturing a uniquely elegant combination of form and function,” said Adel Bazerghi, Senior Vice President of Products at Bell. “Along with text messaging our clients will love using the QWERTY keyboard to send picture messages and email, and access their favourite social networking sites.”

Samsung is also partnering with Bell to offer the perfect holiday gift – the Kisses from CLEO gift set featuring the Samsung CLEO, a decorative phone charm, a Cake Kiss mulberry sorbet lip butter and a 15% discount coupon for Cake Beauty products. The Samsung CLEO is available for as little as $49.95 on a three-year contract.

Previewed last month during an exclusive party for up-and-coming Canadian fashion designer Katya Revenko, the Samsung CLEO will be hitting the catwalk once again at the second annual Fashion Takes Action Gala, a showcase promoting eco-friendly fashion. The fashion-forward device is serving as a muse for 10 Canadian fashion designers who will create stylish and eco-friendly accessory bags for CLEO. The accessory bags will be showcased during the gala’s fashion show and audience members will be invited to vote via text message for their favourite bag. The accessory bags will be available for purchase at the event’s silent auction with a portion of the funds raised being donated to Environmental Defence.

As well, Fashion Takes Action event goers can also recycle old wireless devices by dropping them off at the Samsung booth via Bell’s Mobile Take-Back Program. At Bell, the company’s Mobile Take-Back Program has diverted approximately 500,000 mobile phones and 80 metric tons of batteries and accessories from landfill since 2003. For each used mobile phone returned, Bell donates $1 to the World Wildlife Fund – Canada. Please visit bell.ca/recycle for more information.

“Participating in both a fashion and eco-friendly event is a natural extension for the Samsung brand,” said Brannen. “Globally, Samsung is committed to environmentally sustainable business practices and our products, from mobile devices to televisions, fuse the best of technology with leading-edge design.”

In continuation of its love of fashion, Samsung has launched a national contest where one lucky winner will fly to Toronto to meet with Katya Revenko and be fitted for a custom designed dress. Contest details can be found at www.kissesfromcleo.com or www.baisersdecleo.com.
