SCEE Launches MyPSN with PSN Integration and Gamercard
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has unveiled a new service on their website. This new development replaces any previous SCEE website accounts, including forum profiles.
The new service is called MyPSN and is currently the most advanced PSN integration outside the PS3 and PSP. It features a live friends list that you and anyone else can see, to view your friends and their current status, including whether they are online and what they are watching or playing.
Even better than the web-based friends list is the new Portable ID (PID). There has been a small amount of PSN integration on SCEAs website for a while now, with a basic friends list and PID. But SCEEs version features a revamped PID, which includes your avatar, favourite game, mood and favourite gaming system. You can also customise the background using preset options. The PID is an image that can be used on websites anywhere, such as forum signatures.
SCEE have confirmed they will be adding new features in the future. This includes implementing Trophy details and current Trophy level. This appears to be Sony’s attempt to directly compete with the Gamercard offered by Microsoft for its Xbox users.
