It seems like a pretty ongoing debate this generation. My games console company sold more boxes than yours did, ner ner na ner ner *sticking tongue out*. I’m fairly sure that the fanboys weren’t quite so…obvious in previous generations. Granted that could be because gaming is picking up more and more speed, especially compared to the days of the old Spectrum and Commodore 64.

Well I think there’s good news for both sides (I leave the Wii out of most of these types of debate as they sell no matter what the other two are doing).

Xbox 360 fans and Microsoft are proudly boasting their huge European sales numbers, while at the same time Sony and co. are gleefully parading the news that they are still 300k units ahead in Europe and they are outselling Xbox 360 in Japan and 3 to 1 no less.

Microsoft announced they had a 124% rise in sales for Europe compare to last year, which they say bodes well considering the PlayStation 3 sales are up a mere 3% in the same period.

Sony have counter-announced Microsoft with the claim they are still riding high in the European territories with a 300,000 unit lead. Media Create have released the weekly sales numbers for Japan November 24 to 30 which show the PS3 selling 35k units while the Xbox 360 sold a still impressive 11.5k.
