Getting Free Gadgets – a Brief Guide

Mac Jones asked:

Free gadgets I hear you ask? Yes, I was sceptical at first – how can people afford to give away the latest gadgets for absolutely nothing? When I looked into it a bit further I discovered how this concept works. It’s really just a form of marketing. Before I explain the marketing side of things, I’ll explain how I actually got my free gadget – in this case, the very latest Sony PS3 games console. I started off at the website www.gadgets-4-free.co.uk where I chose my free gift. There are other items to choose as well as a PS3, such as an Xbox 360 or iPod. Once I had chosen my free gift I signed up with my email address and postal address. Please don’t worry about spam email, I haven’t had a thing, and make sure you use your correct postal address, as this is where your shiny new PS3 will be sent. After signing up I had to choose an offer to complete (this is how they can give away free PS3’s – I will explain later). There are numerous offers to choose, such as signing up for free DVD rentals by post, or joining a betting site. Some of the offers will cost you, such as the betting site offer where you have to deposit and bet £5 (still not bad for a PS3 – and you might even win your bet anyway). Some of the offers (the DVD rental for example) are totally free – it will cost you nothing as long as you remember to cancel after the initial trial period. After I’d done the offer I was given something called a referral link, which is like my own personal website address. I now had to give this to a few friends and relatives (ten in total) and get them to also sign up and complete an offer, just as I did above. Most of them also chose the free DVD rental. It cost them nothing and they got to watch the latest films for a few months! That was it. When I logged into my account I could see who had signed up and how many were still required before I could get my free PS3. From initial sign up to the courier turning up at my door with a brand-spanking-new PS3 was only around four weeks. You can’t beat that for service.

As for how these companies can afford to give away PS3’s and Xbox’s, it is all down to commission. When you and your friends sign up for an offer the company providing the free gifts get paid a commission for referring you – it is this commission, plus the fact that they are buying the PS3’s in bulk at discounted prices which enables them to be able to give away such gifts.

So I hope you’re convinced, why pay £300 for a PS3 when you don’t have to. Get yourself over to www.gadgets-4-free.co.uk now to start the ball rolling. Happy gaming!

Knowing your Playstation 2

sony playstation
Roberto Sedycias asked:

The Playstation 2, or the PS2, is a video game console that is successor of the Playstation and predecessor of the Playstation 3. It was developed and designed by Sony. Playstation 2 was released in Japan, a year after the announcement of its development in March 1999.

Till date, Playstation 2 is the best-selling video game console. Sale of the Playstation 2 touched a whopping 120 million mark in 2007. Just after 5 years and 9 months of its launch, Playstation 2 sales reached 100 million units, making it the fastest selling video game console.

Initially, when the console was launched in 2000, impressive game titles weren`t made available with it. But in December 2001, a host of best-selling and critically acclaimed game titles were launched for Playstation 2, which helped Playstation 2 in maintaining a lead in the video game console market. In most of the cases, the makers of Playstation 2 made exclusivity deals with the publishers of the game titles to stay ahead in console market.

Playstation 2 has 3 designs: Original case design, slim case design and PSX.

Playstation 2 is backward compatible with Playstation when it comes to hardware compatibility. It can read CDs as well as DVDs. DVD video playback is another feature of Playstation 2. DVD movie playing feature was another attraction and a cost-justifying feature for a buyer to purchase Playstation 2. It also supports Playstation memory cards, meant for saving Playstation games only. Playstation 2 also supports the Playstation controllers. But the problem that one faces with these controllers is that they are not supportive of all the functions, like the analog buttons, of the Playstation 2. The memory cards, also, work only with Playstation 1 games. At the rear of the console, support is provided for internal Playstation 2 HDD (Hard Disc Drive).

An upgraded version of the Playstation DualShock controller is the Playstation 2`s DualShock 2 controller. Digital buttons of the original controller are replaced by analog face, shoulder and D-pad buttons. The D-pad, the right buttons, the back buttons (R1, R2, L1, L2), the analog joystick buttons (R3, L3s) and the middle buttons (Start, Select, Analog) are the various input buttons.

Similar to its predecessor, force feedback feature is provided with DualShock 2 controller. Force feedback is more commonly known as the `vibration` function. Consider a game wherein the player moves in a car on a road. Now, this force feedback feature gives a `feel` of how an actual road would have given, making the game as close to reality as possible.

Playstation 2 was introduced with one of the most advanced features. These features were not available with other contemporary gaming consoles, which helped Playstation 2 in gaining more popularity. DVD playback feature, USB support and IEEE 1394 expansion ports were some of these features.

Software support was another advantage that worked in the favor of Playstation 2. Old systems could be upgraded to Playstation 2 without changing the old softwares. This enabled the new users to access older games till a new and larger library was developed for Playstation 2. Speeding up disc read time, adding texture smoothing to enhance graphics, or a combination of both, were the added features provided with Playstation 2 to enhance Playstation games. At times, problems like failure in loading were faced with faster disc reading. But texture smoothing proved out to be an effective feature at all times.

Playstation games can also be played online with multiple players. A network adapter is required for this. This is a built-in component in the slimline model, but with other models the consumer has to purchase it. These special features make playstation 2 a great hit among the kids and the grown ups alike.

Do you Have Microsoft Xbox 360 Problems? Check This Xbox 360 Repair Guide Out!

Hengster asked:

While the Xbox 360 is a great console system there have been many complaints since its release in 2005 to do with hardware errors. The 3 red lights Xbox 360 problem is what most people receive when something goes wrong with their console; this means there is a hardware problem which could be a number of different problems. This Xbox 360 repair guide will show you the most common problems and a few possible fixes.

Overheating

The Xbox 360 overheating problem is one of the most common issues; it can be fixed most of the time by simply putting the console in a more open environment. Many people put the console in an enclosed area to save space but unfortunately the overheating issue means it needs more ventilation. There is a so called “towel fix” for the Xbox but this has been reported to be a short term fix and dangerous in the long run!

Cabling problems

Sometimes it is simply that the cable in the back of console is not properly connected; make sure it is firmly plugged in. However it can also mean that the console is just not getting enough power which is much harder to spot and fix.

Hardware failure

This is the scary one, when your console has Xbox 360 hardware problems you can unplug and restart the console and try again and sometimes this fixes the issue but often you will experience the same error immediately or after playing for a time then it will happen again. This can lead to a trip to the Xbox repair centre which is expensive and time consuming.

It is unfortunate that the 3 red lights give so little detail into your Xbox problems and Microsoft have admitted there are some serious flaws in their product but hopefully this Xbox 360 repair guide is enough of a tutorial to solve any easy issues quickly.

Xbox 360 Repair – Find Out Why you May Need Xbox 360 Repair Here!

Chris Jones asked:

If you are an owner of an Xbox 360 or just like consoles and gaming in general then you have probably already seen all the fuss about Xbox 360 Repair.

It seems that every man and his dog with an Xbox 360 have at one time encountered problems with the Xbox 360. One of the most common problems with the Xbox 360 is the 3 red lights error and this is caused by the Xbox overheating and the motherboard takes to much heat so begins to warp and bend thus causing the problem.

There is also a lot of debate as to whether you can perform Xbox 360 Repair yourself and do a DIY fix to get your broken console up and running again.

Well there are certainly a lot of guides out there that say this is possible and since the same thing happened to me I decided to invest in one of these Xbox 360 Repair guides and the first thing I noticed is that it does involve opening up your console.

So if you are still in warranty it might be a good idea to just send the broken Xbox back to Microsoft as they are offering free repairs.

Anyway I worked my way through the Xbox 360 Repair guide that I found and must admit it was quite easy to follow and it took me about an hour to adopt the fix.

When I turned on my console the fix had actually worked and without saying to much about the guide it works by taking the heat away from the motherboard and the chips which in turn stops the freezes.

If you really can’t wait 4-6 weeks for repair then I would say do a search for Xbox 360 Repair and sift through all the guides that claim to tell you how to fix your Xbox and make sure they have a guarantee before you buy!

Xbox 360 3 Red Lights Fix – Find Out the Truth Here!

August 9, 2008

XBOX 360
Chris Jones asked:

The first thing you should know is why the 3 red lights happens in the first place and although there can be a number of different reasons the most obvious and most common is the Xbox overheating plain and simple!

There are a few ways that you can reduce the risk of ever needing an Xbox 360 3 Red Lights Fix and here are some tips that should keep your Xbox 360 running like clockwork:

Make sure that the console gets enough ventilation and if you keep the 360 in a display case then make sure the doors are open and it can get enough air.

Better still you could keep the Xbox out of the display case and this would make sure that it gets the air it needs on all sides.

Another thing that can help reduce the risk of the Xbox 360 3 Red Lights fix is if you keep the power brick that came with the Xbox up off the floor! Although this does sound a bit strange, in essence it will allow the power brick to get more air too and prevent the risk of overheating.

So you are probably wanting to know what has happened to your Xbox 360 if you suffer with the 3 red lights?

Well the reason you will find yourself looking for an Xbox 360 3 Red Lights Fix is because as the console takes more and more heat the chips on the motherboard heat up and the solders become loose on the motherboard.

Once the Xbox 360’s soldering becomes loose when you turn on the console you will be greeted with the 3 red lights of doom.

There is loads more info about the Xbox 360 3 Red Lights Fix at my blog which can be found here

Of course the good news in all of this is that Microsoft have seen the problem and said that they will repair all Xbox 360’s that suffer from this problem!

The only downside is that at the moment that could mean waiting up to 4-6 weeks for your console to be sent back to you.

Lesley Lyon asked:

The Xbox 360 is the second video game console produced by Microsoft in co-operation with IBM, ATI and SiS.  With its Xbox live service, players can compete on line and download arcade games such as game demos, TV shows, trailers, music videos or rented movies.  Xbox 360, which is the successor to Xbox, is the seventh generation gaming system competing with Sony’s play station 3.

The Xbox 360 – launched on MTV on May 12, 2005 – is the first console to provide a near simultaneous launch across three major regions with wireless controller support.  The console sold out completely at release and as of September 2007, 13.4 million units have been sold worldwide with a variety of three versions.

Development:  Xenon, Xbox 2, Xbox FS, Xbox Next or Next Box were the initial names during development of Xbox 360.  Before the advent of Xbox 360 using Apple’s Power Mac G5 hardware, several alpha development kids were spotted.

Xbox 360 launch:  The Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005 in the United States of America and Canada.  Microsoft had officially launched Xbox 360 in thirty six countries in its first year of launch, more countries than any console had launched in a single year and because of its early launch, the Xbox 360 has taken the lead on both of its competitors, Sony’s play station 3 and Nintendo’s Wii.

There are three standard variants in Xbox 360.  Xbox 360 Arcade, the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 Elite.

The Xbox 360 Core was an entry level now replaced by Xbox 360 Arcade.  The core system is the bundle of composite video cables, capable of only SDTV resolutions.  The Xbox 360 Core may utilize a separately sold 20 or 120 GB Hard Drive.

The Xbox 360 Arcade is the replacement for Xbox 360 Core.  It includes a wireless controller, 256 MB memory unit, composite AV cable, HDMI 1.2 output, 5 Xbox Live Arcade titles with packaging labeled ‘go play’ and also a ‘welcome video’ and several game trailers/demos.

The Xbox 360 generally called the ‘premium’ or ‘pro’ has all the features of the Xbox 360 core and has a combination of composite cable and component cable.  The Xbox 360 also has a detachable 20 GB Hard Disc Drive which stores downloaded content, compatible with original Xbox games and store game data.

The Xbox 360 Elite is the fourth and most expensive variation of the console.  It includes a 120 GB Hard Drive and a Matte black finish.  The Elite was released in August 2007.

On the day of Xbox 360’s release, Microsoft added a basic non-subscription service – Silver – to its already established premium subscription based service called Gold.  The Xbox Live Marketplace designed to download purchased or promotional content offers movie game trailer and game demos.

The Xbox Video Marketplace is an exclusive Video Store to download high definition and standard definition television store and movie on to Xbox 360 console.

The Xbox Live Arcade is an on-line service used to distribute downloadable video games to Xbox and Xbox 360 owners operated by Microsoft.

The Xbox 360’s graphical user interface “GUI” is the Xbox 360 dashboard which features five blades and can be launched automatically when the console boots up without a disc.

A new feature called Xbox Original was launched to download original Xbox games directly to Xbox 360

Xbox 360 Repair – Learn How You Can Fix Your Xbox 360 Today!

August 1, 2008

XBOX 360
Chris Jones asked:

Xbox 360 Repair is a big talking point on the web and there seems to be quite alot of technical problems with Microsoft’s newest gaming system. During the past couple of years the new console has had all sorts of problems such as random games freezing up, graphics errors and even games not loading up when you put the Xbox game in the drive.

Although the number one failing with the system seems to be the 3 red lights of doom which means “General Hardware Failure” and the reason this happens is because the console gets too hot!

The hardware that are affected in the console by overheating can be different, although nearly all the problems above are caused by lack of airflow and overheating!

This article will tell you the choices you have for Xbox 360 Repair and also give you what I consider to be the best and safest method for Xbox 360 Repair.

The first method you have for Xbox 360 Repair is to send the faulty console back to Microsoft and if you are still in warranty then this is quite a good idea. If you have the 3 red lights of doom on your Xbox then Microsoft has recognized that this is a problem and will repair the Xbox for no cost to you!

However if you are having a different problem with your Xbox then you will not be quite so lucky and will have to pay $140+ to get the problems fixed!

Also with the above option you will find yourself having to wait for up to 5 weeks to get a new console back to you, and also no guarantees that the error will not happen again!

I have spoken to some people that have had the same problems happen to them about 5 times even when thay have sent it back!

The second choice you have for Xbox 360 Repair is to use an independent company and you will see laods of these about online. Basically they are companies who claim to do the repair for you but in a quicker time frame

There are a few of them competing with each other so you can be sure that the repairs will be done quickly, however the problem with these companies is that you have no clue who is repairing your Xbox and also if they know how to do the work properly.

If you send your console to one of these companies for Xbox 360 Repair and then have any errors in the future than you will have voided your warranty so it is really a good plan to think about that before you use one of these companies!

So before you give up hope for your broken Xbox there is another way that you can get Xbox 360 Repair.

The third method that you have to do this is to perform the repairs work yourself! It really is not as complicated as it sounds because the reason that the problems arise on the Xbox 360 is down to the hardware overheating and all you need to know how to do is stop the processors taking too much heat and you will have it fixed.

There are a few Xbox 360 Repair guides online that claim to show you how to carry out Xbox 360 Repair although not all of them are equal and some are just made up of forum posts that discuss the problem so it is really worth while to get a good guide that will tell you how to do the repairs!

When you are searching for an Xbox 360 Repair guide make sure that it includes these 3 things:

Full Video Walkthroughs:

Make sure that before you purchase any Xbox 360 Repair guide that it has video walkthroughs for the repair work so all you have to do is follow along. If it is a real fix then the product creator should have done the fix themselves and be confident enough to make a video of it.

Money Back Guarantee?

Make sure also that the guide comes with a full money back guarantee as if the repair does not work for you at least this way you will not be left out of pocket and be able to get your money back and then send it back to Microsoft.

Technical Support:

Last but not least, make sure that the guide contains full technical support so you can get in touch if you need help repairing the Xbox or any other questions.

So there you have it!

I hope this article has helped tell you a bit more about Xbox 360 Repair and how you can get your broken console repaired.

Good Luck!
